McNair High Achievers Head to Guatemala to Help Build a Bottle School

McNair Travel Club partnered with 100 Black Men of Dekalb County to go back to Guatemala & help the town of Chutiabajal build a school out of inorganic trash & plastic bottles.  The experience is unforgettable & allowed the students to be a part of a much bigger project.

Visit kiraalceus.wix.com to view Shakara's website as she prepared throughout the school year completing community service projects leading up to Guatemala.

We had the warmest welcome into Guatemala!  The team of Hug It Forward & Dream Trips created this voluntour opportunity where we helped the Town of Jometes build a school out of plastic bottles & trash.  Education is not free for everyone & their are no garbage men driving by to pick up trash. This  experience solves so many problems by empowering all stakeholders!

Stay tuned for more pictures to come as the students continue their presentations & research.  The next voluntour trip will be July 2016 so contact me if you want to participate.  A passport is required & we are currently fundraising to help reduce the cost.  Parents & students at least 14 years old are encouraged to join!

Prosper represents his Senior class & used his iPhone at night to document his experience each day.
