Fernbank Museum Fieldtrip

Fernbank currently has the Genghis Khan Exhibit on display until January 21st 2013.  There are many useful activities and lessons already prepared that correlate to middle & high school curriculum standards.  The IMAX Theater features a movie called "Africa's Elephant Kingdom"

Georgia Performance Standards GPS for middle & high school:

6th Grade SS6G8 Geographic Understandings- The student will locate selected features of Europe.
7th Grade SS7G9 The student will locate selected features in Southern & Eastern Asia.
7th Grade SS7G11 The student will explain the impact of location, climate, physical characteristics, distribution of natural resources & population distribution on Southern & Eastern Asia.
7th Grade S7CS5 Students will use the ideas of system, model, change, and scale in exploring scientific  and technological matters.
7th Grade S7L4 Students will examine the dependence of organisms on one another and their environments.
7th Grade SS7G1 The student will be able to describe and locate the important physical & human characteristics of Africa.

World History High School
SSWH2 The student will identify the major achievements of Chinese & Indian societies from 1100 BCE to 500 CE.  
SSWH4 The student will analyze the importance of the Byzantine & Mongol empires between 450 CE & 1500 CE.
SSWH5 The student will trace the origins & expansion of the Islamic World between 600 CE & 1300 CE.

World Geography High School
SSWG5 The student will describe the interaction of physical & human system that have shaped contemporary South Asia, Southeastern Asia & Eastern Asia.

Biology High School
SB1  Students will assess the dependence of all organisms on one another & the flow of energy & matter within their ecosystems.
