London Tour

The McNair Travel Club had an opportunity to visit London England for 7 days.  We visited Oxford University, Stratford, the Roman Bath House, Trifalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, a castle, the Meritime Museum, the musical Wicked, walked across London bridge without falling, figured out the subway system, and much more!  While the following are a few pictures, you get a better scope of our adventure by opening the link to view journals, more pictures & see reviews.

The above video is a recording of Terrence & Quendarius on location at Stone Henge.

Once again it looks as if the McNair High Travel Club has had another amazingly successful trip. I enjoyed reading the daily post and can see how excited the students were visiting and learning about the wonderful attractions and historical places. I trust all involved will use this experience to continue their learning and expanding their cultural environments. I also like to send special congratulations and continued success to Ms. Hastie for all her work teaching and broadening the horizons of all those students she comes in contact with.

Once again I’m thrilled to have gone yet to another international trip! London is a fascinating place full of history and knowledge wrapped around royalty. As our tour guide talked about several names such as “Jack the Ripper” ”Shakespeare” ”Queen Elizabeth” “king Henry ” and so much more. Windsor castle one of my favorite places to have visited while in Windsor. Apparently I’m not the only one who enjoys the castle. Being one the queens (Queen Elizabeth) most beloved castled out of them all. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. In 1992 the castle was destroyed by a fire many paintings and royal artifacts were destroyed as well. After the great fire the queen decided to open up the castle to the public to gain currency. So that repairs can be made to the castle and this idea was so successful that it stayed open as a tourist attraction.

Overall I enjoyed traveling to London and being able to take in all that I have learned in school first hand. This is a trip that I would hope more people would partake in and take advantage of. This is something which you can apply to your studies while you are in school and have fun all at the same time. I find myself astonished by the knowledge that I have gained not just from London but from Egypt, Greece, Italy and Costa Rica. In conclusion I highly recommend that everyone at least take the chance to experience traveling abroad.

I'm glad you decided to join the Travel Club and remain dedicated! Now that you are a recent graduate means you have to take everything you learned & make it work for you! For example, your volunteer time at GA TECH, GA Dome, the horse stables, and the Homeless Shelter are all great additions to your resume! You can still participate with the McNair Travel Club as long as you like ;)

Once again I had a chance to experience a trip that many dream of. London was my best international trip I’ve partaken in yet. Most of the old buildings in Central London were being destroyed and replaced by high rises or beautiful architecture pieces made of glass. The millionaires who work in Central London from Monday-Friday are moving into the newly built high rises during the week and going to their original home on the weekends to be with their family. My favorite parts about this trip were seeing the crown jewels and traveling on the subway. The world’s largest jewel was also in the Tower of London. It had a whooping estimate price of 400 billion US dollars. I also enjoyed riding the subway with my group because we learned how to maneuver around the streets of London as if it was our home area. One day engineers had to repair the trains so we had to regroup and plan a new route to get back to our hotel in Hangar Lane. I think we did pretty good for beginners. Piccadilly Circus was a big tour attraction because it had M&M World and you felt as if you were in M&M heaven from smelling so much chocolate! The Indian restaurant we went to on the last day had the best food! It met my needs since I’m a vegetarian. I even had a chance to talk to one of the queen’s guards who said you had to be in the military for 40 years to be able to serve the queen. His family lives near the Tower of London in a hotel devoted for the guards.

Quendarius, you & Terrence were great navigating through the subway system in London! The hundreds of pictures you took are appreciated and are quite helpful in creating the digital photo story and book! Now that we are back, I still think we could have taken more pictures to capture moments. It is most noticeable while editing our book and trying to get the perfect picture. Hopefully others will share their pictures and upload them on the tour link soon. People who have never visited London want to see more. The journals, videos and pictures all help! Thanks for helping to create & edit the entire London Tour. Now we have to prepare for an international community service trip for 2014 ;}
